One part that I forgot to add...

**Forgot another part of the Harvest Party....while Angie and I were at Hy-Vee on Wednesday getting items for the party, our checker was asking us about the stuff we were getting....bowls, cheese, apples.   We told her what we were doing and she about had tears in her eyes when she said that she loved The Salvation Army and how the Harvest Party at TSA was the best when she was a kid.  She said she grew up in California and she went every year to the corps for the party.   We invited her, but didn't see her.   She was crying when she said it was her best memories from childhood.   Again, I am blessed by the opportunites God gives us to make an impact on people's lives.   May I not miss one opportuntiy He gives me!****

Interesting...to say the least

Wow.  Things have been busy, busy, busy.   It's been a while since I've posted, so I'll try and catch up (without making it too long)!

Officer's Councils were OK.  Tuesday evening...awesome.   Wednesday and Thursday, not so much, for me.  I really needed to be fed and in the Word and I didn't get that (with the exception of Tuesday night...Major Smith was outstanding).   Our guest speaker lost me when he CONSTANTLY compared soccer practice and basketball practice and football practice to music rehearsal.   Not the same thing, whatsoever.   I know it was a small deatil, but I was annoyed with it.   Also, I completly disagreed with his hour lecture on "church for sprinters" as opposed to "church for marathon runners."   He was saying that most of the people in our congregations are sprinters and we should cater to them.   I agree that maybe this is the case, but aren't we trying to get our "sprinters" into committed and deep relationships with Christ?   Isn't being a disciple equivalent to being a marathon runner, at least for the purposes of his illustration?   It seems to me that if we are catering to our sprinters, we are only catering to baby Christians who only want the feel-good feeling of being a Christian.   We are called to be more than that as followers of Christ.  I am committed to growing disciples, people who step out in faith and make commitments for Christ and who JOIN OUR ARMY!   OK, done with that rant.   I'm intersted in anyone eles's opinions on the subject.

Women's Ministries Sunday was by far one of the greatest joys of October.   Laura decorated our chapel beautifully and Angie gave an amazing testimony.   Not a dry eye in the place!!!!!!!   The ladies sang a special song and truly it was glorious.  I am so blessed.

Last Wednesday was our annual Harvest Party.   It is always a big night.   I was just thinking about our first year here and how I didn't prepare for as many people who came.  The menu is always the same....chili, cornbread, cookies....no brainer!   This year, we had 117 people.   Angie and Alicia prepared the evening which was awesome.  They really did a great job with the games.   Unfortunately, Jacob and I were sick with the flu and had to leave early.   Later that night, Jacob, Andrew and I were all sick and it was not fun.   The boys missed their room parties on Thursday but they could still go out for trick or treating on Friday.  We're finally all feeling better.   Martin took good care of us.   Seriously, how did I get so lucky with such an amazing husband????

This week if full of big projects...office cleaned, Sunbeam room cleaned so toys can start getting organized and ready for Distribution...last real week of Youth Programs before kettles.   Honestly, I'm not ready for them, but they are coming.

I'm 99% done with Christmas shopping and have been listening to Chritmas music to get in the mood.   The weather is so gorgeous right now, it's hard to believe it's November!   Which means.......12 days until my birthday...but also 12 days until kettles begin.

My life is intersting and I'm thankful for the blessings God bestows upon me.

Blessings to you!

Jr. Soldier Rally

We had a great time today at the Jr. Soldier Rally in Moline.   The kids were so cute, and even though the Clinton kids were a little wild...I was really proud of them.  They worked hard and were awesome!

Here are a few more pictures I took of the chapel & items:

Chapel completion...99%

I promised that I would post pictures as the chapel was finished.   The only thing left to do is to hang up some big purple banners on the back wall.   My dad and Tom will be doing so next week.

It turned out awesome and we are loving our worship space!
